  • What is EasyBooks and Tax?
    EasyBooks and Tax is a cost-effective monthly accounting service. We offer bookkeeping, GST filing, and tax compliance in one simple subscription, helping Kiwis keep their businesses on track.
  • How does the subscription model work?
    Our model gives you simple fixed monthly pricing with the flexibility to choose only the accounting services you need. It’s designed to remove financial uncertainty, so you can focus on doing what you do best, running your business.
  • Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
    Yes, with 30 days' notice. Please note: If you cancel after your annual tax return has been completed, the full base fee for the year will apply. If you join after April but before the end of the tax year (e.g. July), a “catch-up” base fee will be charged for the months not yet covered (April – June) i.e This ‘catch-up’ amount will only be a pro-rated amount for undertaking the financial accounts (and not for any monthly bookkeeping services not undertaken from April-June). We charge for the current financial year.
  • Do you offer one-off services, or is everything subscription-based?
    While most of our services are offered through subscription, we can provide additional services such as business valuations or specialist tax advice through our in-house Tax Directors. These are quoted separately as required.
  • How much does your service cost?
    Our pricing is structured into three tiers based on your business type and needs. You can view full details on our Pricing Page.
  • Are there any hidden fees?
    No! we’re upfront and transparent. Additional costs only apply for optional add-ons such as payroll, bookkeeping, or Xero/MYOB software subscriptions. However, if the actual time and effort required to fulfil your needs consistently exceeds the original scope (e.g., requiring more hours than initially agreed), EBTAX reserves the right to review and adjust your subscription plan accordingly. Any proposed changes to your monthly subscription fee will be communicated with a minimum of 30 days' notice. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for more.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
    We accept monthly payments via direct debit or credit card. Please note however that debit/credit card payments will incur an additional 2.95% Stripe fee
  • What bookkeeping services do you offer?
    Our bookkeeping services include transaction reconciliation, expense tracking, GST coding, and preparation of financial reports. All tailored to your business size and needs.
  • Do you handle payroll?
    Yes, we offer payroll processing as an optional add-on service. This includes employee payments, PAYE filings, and IRD reporting. Weekly, fortnightly, or monthly as required.
  • Can you file GST returns for me?
    Absolutely. We take care of GST preparation, filing, and lodgement with the IRD. GST returns are typically filed either every two months or every six months, depending on your registration we’ll ensure you’re meeting the correct deadlines.
  • Do you liaise with the IRD on my behalf?
    Yes. We manage your IRD account, respond to correspondence, file returns, and help resolve any queries or disputes that may arise.
  • What accounting software do you use?
    We primarily use Xero and MYOB, ensuring your accounts are managed efficiently and securely. Our accountants are experienced with these platforms, so you can trust you're in expert hands.
  • How do I sign up?
    Signing up is simple - just fill out our contact form or get in touch with us directly to get started. We’ll walk you through everything.
  • Can you transfer my accounts from my current accountant?
    Yes. We’ll handle the transfer process for you, including requesting professional clearance, transferring accounting software subscriptions, and collecting historical workpapers and records.
  • Is there a setup fee?
    No setup fee applies. Your subscription begins on the 20th of the month, and that covers everything moving forward. If you join partway through the financial year and we’re completing your year-end accounts, a catch-up fee may apply to cover the months prior to your start date. We’ll always let you know upfront.
  • Do you provide tax advice?
    We offer basic tax guidance as part of your subscription. For in-depth or specialised advice (e.g. business restructuring, effective tax management & planning, investment queries, brightline rules, cross border transactions), we refer clients to our in-house Directors as needed.
